Arrival by public transport
At the central stops “Hauptbahnhof”, “Kröpcke” and “Aegidientorplatz” (node points in the railway network) there are elevators available to the subway stations. The final stop Messe/Nord is a high platform.
For the journey from the central railway station to the exhibition center, the tram line 8 or 18 to the entrance Nord is optimal for mobility-impaired visitors. On this route the new silver tram lines are running, which ensure by an automatic height adjustment of the entrances that wheelchair users can comfortably access the tram without needing assistance. The wide double doors are without any middle barriers and in each wagon there are two open areas (with folding seats) for wheelchair users.
Blind fair visitors have facilitated access to the subways by a tactile guide strip system and tactile squares in the underground stations Hauptbahnhof and Kröpcke. In addition, acoustic train destination announcements are installed.
Directions from airport
Whether the arrival and departure take place with your own car or taxi – the parking areas for the vehicles are located directly in front of the entrance and exit doors of the terminals A, B and C. The doors have a sufficient width for wheelchair users, are always self-opening and without a threshold. The kerbs are flattened at key crossing points. The stop of the Shuttle Bus, Airport – exhibition center, which commutes between the airport and the central station, is also located directly in front of the passenger terminal, on the arrivals level between Terminals A and B. In addition, you can take the S-Bahn line 5 from the airport to the central station and then change into lines 8 or 18.
Parking Spaces
A part of the parking spaces outside the fairgrounds are reserved as special parking spaces for visitors with limited mobility. These special parking spaces are always close to whatever entrances are in operation for the fairs and exhibitions, and are marked accordingly.
